Find Calabrian chili oil at Italian delis, specialty grocery stores, or well-stocked supermarkets' Mediterranean section. Look for jars with whole crushed chiles suspended in olive oil, not just infused oil or flakes. 'Nduja Artisans and Tutto Calabria are excellent brands. The chiles are fruity, moderately spicy, and slightly smoky, with a different character than Asian chili oils. A small drizzle adds heat, beautiful ruby color, and aromatic oil that carries flavor across the taco. Beyond tacos, drizzle it on pizza, eggs, pasta, roasted vegetables, or swirl into yogurt or hummus for an instant spicy dip. Shake or stir before using to distribute the chile bits. The Taco Scrolls note that Calabria has been growing these specific peppers since the 1500s, making this 'heat with heritage.'
